Elsa Pataky was born on July 18th, 1976 in Madrid, Spain. She is a Spanish actress who has appeared in ten Spanish language films, but is also fluent in French, English and Romanian (she’s half Romanian herself). The busy actress has six films in the works either currently filming or in post-production. Two are in French including the lead role in a movie slated to come out in 2008 called Skate or Die. The other four are in her native Spanish. The actress originally studied journalism, took a few acting classes at the University of San Pablo and also became a member of the Teatro Camara de Angel Guitierrez which is a theatre company in Madrid. But success came rapidly for the multilingual talent. After only two onscreen appearances she was cast in a television show called Al Salir de Clase which ran from 1997-2002. Pataky appeared in 274 episodes from 1997 to 1999 which soon led to film offers which continue to this day. Her biggest box office hits have included Snakes on a Plane with Samuel L. Jackson in which she played a minor character named Maria, and the 2004 French hit Iznogoud (silly title intended to be pronounced eeez no gooood as in is no good) which introduced her to French speaking audiences and first internationalized her burgeoning career.
