Elle MacPherson, was born Eleanor Nancy Gow on March 29th, 1963 in Killara, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. She is an Australian supermodel, actress, sometimes restaurateur, and entrepreneur whose career took off as a result of her 5 covers of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issues. She and Heidi Klum have recently become embroiled in a dispute over who is rightfully nicknamed The Body. Although the flattering term appears to have been used in the media and world of fashion for both models at various times, it became an issue when lingerie giant Victoria’s Secret launched an advertising campaign with Klum naming one of their bras The Body in her honour. MacPherson threatened to counter with a lawsuit and then surprised everyone by claiming it was a meeting with the Dalai Lama that inspired her to drop the issue. Regardless, the six foot tall (183 cm) brown eyed, brown haired MacPherson has had a diverse and successful career, appearing in memorable guest spots as Joeys love interest on NBCs comedic juggernaut Friends. She’s appeared in Barbara Streisand’s The Mirror Has Two Faces (1996), Batman & Robin (1997) and as the woman who gets between Anthony Hopkins and Alec Baldwin to the point where they confront each other, the elements and even a grizzly bear in The Edge (1997).
