Elise Neal was born on March 14, 1966 in Memphis, Tennessee. Neal is an accomplished American film and television actress as well as an aspiring singer/choreographer/dancer. She has been nominated for a Screen Actors Guild award as part of the cast of Hustle and Flow, received two NAACP nominations including one for her work in the television series The Hughleys. In 2006 Neal was honored with the African-American Women in Cinemas Trailblazer Award. So far Neals primary work has been in acting, although the actress is certainly trying to change that in a big way now. Neal has steadily been achieving higher profile roles in movies like John Singletons Rosewood, Paid in Full (2002) starring Wood Harris and Mekhi Phifer (she played Aunt Jane), and co-starring in Playas Ball (2003). Now that Neal’s achieved notice on the soundtrack for Hustle and Flow, however, she’s been actively pursuing singing/dancing projects including a three person girl group called Assorted Flavors, of which she is both a member and the promoter. The group markets itself as three beautiful, flavorful, women who put on a high energy show with exciting choreography, show stopping singing, and outfits too small to be ignored.
