Dido is a lovely singer born December 25, 1971 as Florian Cloud de Bounevialle Armstrong. Since she was born on Christmas day, she celebrates her birthday just as members of the British monarch do which is to celebrate their birthday on another official day, June 25th. She is a Grammy winner whose mother gave her the nickname of Dido in her childhood. Dido’s mother, Clair Collins, is a French poet and her father, William O’Malley Armstrong was an Irish publisher. Her father died in December 2006. Dido was a rather incorrigible child and was caught stealing a recorder from school when she was five years old. This event did not create the sort of punishing environment that might be expected. Dido was playing the piano, recorder, and the violin in her teens and with her criminal proclivities in check, she studied law at Birkbeck, University of London. She did not finish this program, however, because music coursed through her veins and she chose to dive into this avenue full time. After learning to play guitar, Dido showcased her skills to audiences during her 2004, Life for Rent tour. She has since released three albums to critical acclaim. She does owe much of her success to Eminem for sampling Thank You in his song Stan.
