Diane Kruger was born in Algermissen, near Hildesheim, Germany. She is the daughter of Maria-Theresa and Hans-Heinrich Kruger. Diane fancied becoming an actress when she was very young but suffered an injury, which limited her abilities. She changed her mindset and went to Paris to become a model. She learned English and French, which she mastered and spoke perfectly. As a model and spokesperson, she was chosen finalist for Elite’s 1992 Look of the Year at the tender age of only fifteen. Acting lingered long in her dreams and she did land some small appearances in several French movies. She changed the spelling of her last name in order to ease her movie career and placement potential. Kruger starred opposite Dennis Hopper and Christopher Lambert in the Piano Player. She graced the screen in 2003's Michel Vaillant and Wicker Park in 2004. She played with Nicholas Cage and Sean Bean in the movie National Treasure, and then succeeded in landing parts in Jayeux Noel 2005 and Copying Beethoven in 2006. Diane married French actor, Guillaume Canet, on September 1, 2001. Later the couple filed for divorce. Her latest work was on a film entitled Addicted, released in 2008.
