Denise van Outen was born May 27, 1974 in Basildon, Essex England, UK. She was named simply Denise with no middle name. Her father was a security guard, her mom a childcare provider. She has a brother who is a hairdresser and a sister who is a physician’s assistant. Denise is a well-known British television host, singer and a stage actress. This remarkable icon began her career at the age of seven modelling for a knitting pattern catalogue. Attention received from friends after this sparked her interests and determination to make acting a major part of her life’s work. After high school, Denise attended the rather costly Sylvia Young Theatre School. Tuition was steep but with her determination, she was able to pay for all school fees from wages earned as a student performing as the character, Epinine in the chorus line of Les Miserables. She briefly appeared in the television drama, Kappatoo, before moving into the direction of full time singer in a girl band calling herself Denise van Outen. Denise added the van at this point as a middle name to acknowledge her Dutch roots and to add a twist to her name. Channelling her focus toward the camera once again, Denise became a glamour model in 1998. In 1999, she was voted rear of the year. She did one topless shoot for lad’s magazine.
