Delta Lea Goodrem was born on November 9, 1984 in Sydney. Delta Goodrem had an interest in music, acting, and sport from a very young age. She has appeared in numerous television commercials and television shows in Australia. Realizing her talent, her parents made no delay in enrolling her in a drama school and her career took off right away. But as much as she enjoyed acting, it was music that she loved the most. She began playing piano when she was 8 years old, and wanted to make music her life. She saved all her acting money and made a CD when she was 12. She included five songs she had written herself, as well as the Australian national anthem, since it was her dream to sing it at an AFL (Australian Football League) game. In the midst of promoting her album and working on the television soapie Neighbours, in mid-2003, it was detected that she had Hodgkins lymphoma, a form of cancer, and ceased work to begin treatment for the disease. On October 4, 2003, while Goodrem was undergoing treatment, it was announced she was parting ways with her manager, Glenn Wheatley. Goodrems mother, Lea Goodrem, subsequently replaced Wheatley. As of January 2004, Goodrem was well enough to attend the 2004 Australian Open at length, where she prominently supported Australian player Mark Philippoussis. Goodrem’s second album Mistaken Identity was released on November 7, 2004 and debuted at #1. The first single from it, Out of the Blue, debuted at #1 on its first week of release in October 2004. She has recovered from the cancer and has just released her new album which debuted at Number 1 on the Australian charts.
