Connie Nielsen was born in Federikshavn, Denmark and raised in a small seaside village named Elling. She worked along side her mother on the local revue and variety scene, which kicked off her acting career. At 18, she went to Paris, France and worked as a model and actress. She lived in Italy for many years and now lives in the United States. She was in French and Italian films but in 1996, she made her first appearance in a major English film called The Devils Advocate opposite Al Pacino and Keanu Reeves. Her favourite band is The Clash and she once loved to collect designer sunglasses. She has around 200 pair. Nielsen’s son Sebastian was born in 1991 and lives with her in New York City. She is currently dating Lars Ulrich the drummer for Metallica. Lars and Connie had a son named Bryce Thadeus Ulrich-Neilson on May 21, 2007. Nielsen speaks six languages: Swedish, Italian, French, English, German and Danish. In 2000, she became known worldwide as Lucilla in the Academy Award-winning epic Gladiator. She has also starred in Mission to Mars (2000), One Hour Photo (2002), The Hunted (2003) and Basic (2003). In 2004, she made her Danish film debut in Brodre meaning brothers. She won the Danish Best Actress Award.
