Claudette Ortiz was born in Willingboro, New Jersey on July 21, 1981. She is of African American and Puerto-Rica descent and is a soul singer who is most famous her singing as a soprano in the group City High, which is mostly R&B. Claudette has built a solo artist name for herself as well. She started singing at an early age in Willingboro, where she was born and raised. She met future band members Robby Pardlo and Ryan Toby when she reached high school. Ryan Toby worked on the movie Sister Act 2 and Robby and Ryan worked on a record deal with Wyclef Jean. City High was formed when Booga Basement, which was Wyclef's record label who already had a male duo suggested that they bring in Robby Pardons back up singer Claudette. She and Ryan Toby married on October 14, 2004 and have two sons together. Claudette is also said to have had a son with New Jersey Rapper Malicious Jynx on August 19, 2004. Her claim to fame includes Dance Like This from Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights, which was later remade by Shakira as Hips Don’t Lie in 2006. Claudette has also worked with other artists including, Ja Rule, Nas and rapper Ma$e.
