Claire Danes was born to Christopher Danes, a computer consultant and former photographer and Carla, a daycare provider and textile designer who would later serve as Claire’s manager. Her brother’s name is Asa and he graduated from Oberlin College, working as a litigation attorney for Paul Hastings. Her paternal grandfather, Gibson A. Danes was the dean of the art and architecture school at Yale University. She attended the Dalton School in New York City, the exclusive private high school Lycee Francais de Los Angeles in Los Angeles, California and the Professional Performing Arts School in New York City. Danes went to Yale for two years majoring in psychology, but dropped out to focus on her film career. In 1998, she was quoted in Vogue as saying that Manila was a ghastly and weird city that smelled of cockroaches and the people have nothing. Her films were subsequently banned in the Philippines. Claire Danes is probably most famous for her role as Angela Chase in the 1994 television drama series My So-Called Life. She won a Golden Globe Award for this role. She dated Australian singer Ben Lee after meeting him at her birthday party and dating him for almost six years. Her film list includes Little Women, Home for the Holidays, Les Miserables, Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines, and Shopgirl.
