Blu Cantrell was born Tiffany Cobb on the 1st of October, 1976, in Providence, Rhode Island, United States. Her mother was a professional jazz singer of French, Cherokee, and German origins. Her father was an African American NBA Basketball player. Blu sang back up for Faith Evans and Puff Daddy until she was discovered in 2000. She released her debut album in 2000 entitled So Blu. It went platinum. She also released a follow up, Bittersweet, in 2003. She then appeared in the stage musical of Gossip, Lies and Secrets from September to the end of November 2007. Blu has posed nude for Black Tail magazine. In 2002, she appeared in the film Drumline as a National Anthem Singer, for an apparent fee of $30,000. It is said that many of Blu’s heartbreak songs are based on her early life and teenage years, when she went through a number of traumatic relationships.
