Avril Lavigne was born Avril Ramona Lavigne on the 27th of September, 1984, in Belleville, Ontario, Canada. She was born into a devout Christian family. They moved to Napanee, Ontario in 1989. In 1998, Avril won a competition to sing with Shania Twain on tour. In 1999, Avril was invited to sing on Steve Medd’s folk album when he spotted her during a performance at the Lennox Community Theatre. She also sang on his 2000 album. At sixteen, she gained her first contract and began working on Let Go. It was released in 2002 when she was eighteen, and it went number one in Australia, Canada and the UK. She released her second album Under My Skin in 2004. She released her third album, The Best Damn Thing, in 2007. She has been the subject of a number of plagiarism claims, with the songwriter who worked on her second album, Chantal Kreviazuk publicly claiming that Avril continually crosses an ethical line. Avril has crossed over to acting, with a part in The Flock, and Fast Food Nation. Avril began dating singer Deryck Whibley in 2004. They were engaged in 2005 in Venice. They married in 2006 in Montecito.
