Ashley Judd was born on the 19th of April, 1968, in Granada Hills, California. Her mother is a well known motivational speaker. Her father is of Italian origins. Ashley’s parents separated and she grew up in poverty in Kentucky. She attended twelve different schools before college. She left college early to pursue an acting career in Hollywood. She studied with Robert Carnegie at Playhouse West. Ashley began her career with an appearance in Star Trek in 1991. She had her first real break in 1991 with the role of Reed Halsey in Sisters, which she played through until 1994. Her first breakthrough film role was Heat in 1995. She is probably best known for A Time to Kill in 1996, and Double Jeopardy in 1999. During the 1990s, Ashley was linked to Brady Anderson, Lyle Lovett, Michael Bolton, Matthew McConaughey, and Robert De Niro. She was engaged to Dario Franchitti in December 1999. They married in December, 2001. In 2006, Ashley entered the Shades of Hope Treatment Centre for 47 days for depression and isolation. Ashley will soon appear in Crossing Over as Denise Frankel and the 2008 film Helen.
