Ashlee Simpson was born Ashlee Nicole Simpson on the 3rd of October, 1984, in Dallas, Texas. She is the younger sister of Jessica Simpson. She studied classical ballet from aged three. She attended the School of American Ballet in NYC at 11 years old. She suffered from an eating disorder for around six month. When Jessica landed a record deal, the family moved to Los Angeles. Ashlee began appearing in commercials and was Jessica’s backup dancer. In 2003, Ashlee recorded Just Let Me Cry for the film Freaky Friday, and she signed her own record deal. Her first album debuted in 2004, and Ashlee occasionally appeared on Jessica’s reality TV show, Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica. Ashlee gained her own reality show - The Ashlee Simpson Show in 2004 to 2005. In 2004, Ashlee was caught up in lip synching controversy when she appeared on Saturday Night Live. She sang Pieces of Me, then returned at the end of the show to sing Autobiography. However, before she even raised the microphone, Pieces of Me vocals rang out. Ashlee began to dance, then left the stage, whilst the band continued to play. Days later she then explained she had lost her voice, and she “Made a complete fool of myself.” She was booed off stage in 2005 at the Orange Bowl, Miami.
