Ana Torroja was born Ana Torroja Fungairino on the 28th of December, 1959, in Madrid, Spain. Her father is a famous engineer. Ana works primarily as a Spanish singer in the trio Mecano and as a solo artist since the trio split. Ana is a talented lass, fluent in English, and she stands at 160 centimetres tall. She married Rafael Luque in May 2003, and she bore their daughter in August 2005. Ana met Jose Maria Cano and his younger brother Nacho Cano whilst studying economics at University. Nacho suggested they form a band, and in 1981 Mecano was born. Mecano released eight albums in total from 1982 to 1998. Constant touring forced the band to split and Ana took dance classes in New York whilst rebuilding her confidence. In 1997, she recorded her first solo album. She has since released eight solo albums from 1997 to 2006. Her biggest success came in 1999 with Pasajes de un Sueno. Her single from that album, Ya No Te Quiero, was one of the highest selling songs in Spain. Ana has since collaborated with Bonnie Hayes, Deep Forest and Jason Hart.
