Ana Gabriel was born Maria Guadalupe Araujo Yong on the 10th of December, 1955, in Santiago de Comanito, Sinaloa, Mexico. She works primarily as a Mexican singer and sometime composer. Ana’s ancestry is mixed with Spanish, Chinese, and Japanese blood. She first performed when she was a tiny six years old, but moved to Tijuana, Baja California and studied accounting. But her true passion was singing, and she won the local Valores Juveniles competition in 1984. She went on to compete in the Iberoamerican Television Organization song festival in the following year, and she landed a recording contract with CBS Mexico. Ana also represented Mexico in an international competition in Portugal. Ana’s first album was released in 1988 entitled Tierra de Nadie. Her follow up Pecado Original in 1989 found a little more chart success than her first effort. But it was her 1990 Quien Como Tu album that placed her on the Mexican music map. Thought the ‘90s, Ana released an album every single year, except 1994. In 2002, Ana was denied entry to the US for a concert in Arizona.
