Amy Jo Johnson was born on the 6th of October, 1970, at Cape Cod, Massachusetts in the US. She trained as a gymnast when she was younger, aiming for the Olympics. She reached Class One status, but unfortunately an injury meant she had to give up her career. In 1988, she moved to New York to pursue acting. She enrolled in the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute and the American Musical and Acting Academy. She then left for Los Angeles. Amy’s first role was as Kimberly Ann Hart, the pink power ranger in the 1993 series Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. She learnt martial arts for the role, and her gymnast background was perfect for the role. Amy left the series in 1995. In 1996, she guest starred in Saved by the Bell: The New Class. In 1997, she reprised her role as the pink power ranger in the Turbo: A Power Rangers Movie. In 1998, she gained the role of Julie Emrick in the television series Felicity. She convinced the producers to change the role of Julie from that of a dancer, to a singer/songwriter so that she could play her own music. Amy has since been in a number of independent film productions, has released her debut album, and a follow up album.
