Amy Acker was born Amy Louise Acker on the 5th of December, 1976, in Dallas, Texas. Her mother is of French ancestry. Amy studied ballet, modern dance, and jazz for thirteen years, until she needed knee surgery. She enrolled at Southern Methodist University in 1995 for their theatrical program. Amy modelled for J Crew during her college years, and she performed in the play Therese Raquin, for which she received a Leon Rabin award in 1999. Amy drew our attention when she won the role of Winifred ‘Fred’ Burkle on the second season of the Buffy spin-off Angel. She was part of the show through until the end, playing Burkle and Illyria for the final two seasons. In 2005, Amy gained a role on the series Alias, playing villainess Kelly Peyton. In 2006, Amy reunited with Alyson Hannigan and Alexis Denisof on the set of How I Met Your Mother. As far as films go, Amy has been busy, filming Catch Me if You Can, The Novice, and Mr Dramatic. Amy married her boyfriend actor James Carpinello in California in April 2003. She gave birth to their son Jackson James Carpinello in January 2005, and to their daughter Ava Grace on September 2006.
