Amber Smith was born on the 2nd of March, 1972, in Tampa Florida. She is the only child of NFL player Russell Smith and model Carol Smith. With that pedigree, what else to do but become a model herself? At fifteen, Amber started locally with newspaper advertisements and fashion shows. When she was sixteen, Amber moved to Paris and worked in the international modelling circuit. When she dyed her naturally blonde hair red, she strongly resembled Rita Hayworth and had her big breakthrough. Amber was the first Wonderbra model, she was selected as Esquire magazine’s first Vargas Girl of the 1990s, and she appeared in two consecutive Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issues. Amber has worked for prestigious names like Vogue, Elle, Marie Claire, L’Oreal, Chanel and Jean Paul Gautier. Amber appeared on the cover of Playboy in March 1995. At 23 years, Amber moved to Los Angeles to begin acting. She auditioned for Casino, and Robert De Niro referred her to Paul Mazursky. She was cast in his film Faithful. It was her first role. Amber played Susan Lefferts, a Rita Hayworth look-alike in LA Confidential, and her looks worked to her advantage again when she was cast in The Rat Pack.
