Alessandra Ambrosio was born Alessandra Corine Ambrosio on the 11th of April, 1981 in Erechim, Rio Grande du Sul, Brazil. This 178 centimetres tall model was once described by Tyra Banks as the future of the modelling world. Alessandro is famous for her work as a Victoria’s Secret model and spokesperson. She is from humble beginnings, as her parents owned a petrol station. She is of Italian and Polish descent. This go-getter decided at the age of 8 that she wanted to be a model. She had her ears pinned back when she was eleven, but experienced bad complications and discourages the public from having plastic surgery. Winning Brazil’s Elite Model Look competition began Alessandra’s modelling career. She has since modelled with Guess, Revlon, Christian Dior, Gucci, appeared on the cover of Cosmo, Elle, Marie Clair, Vogue, and has made television appearances including a spot as herself on the series Entourage. In 2004 she released her own line of swimwear. She is currently the National Ambassador for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, raising awareness of the condition and funds for its cure. Her own father was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in the 1990s.
