Who is Katherine Heigl?

Katherine Heigl was born on the 24th November 1978 in Washington DC, USA. She is and Emmy winning and Golden Globe nominated actress and former fashion model. She had a strict upbringing, inside The Church of Later Day Saints, in 1986, her 15-year-old older brother Jason died of injuries suffered in a car accident, the family decided to donate his organs. The Heigl family was never in any doubt that Jason would have wanted his organs and tissues donated for transplant. Katherine has been an outspoken proponent of organ donation ever since. When she was nine, an aunt visiting the family decided to take a number of photographs of her. After returning to her home in New York, the aunt sent the photos to a number of modelling agencies, with the permission of Katherine's parents. Within a few weeks, Heigl was signed as a Child Model. She made her debut almost immediately. She was soon posing for Sears and Lord & Taylor catalogues. Television jobs soon followed, the first in a national spot for Cheerios cereal. In 2005, Heigl was cast in what would become her most high-profile role, on the ABC medical drama, Grey's Anatomy. The show, initially a midseason filler is now a ratings success and in its six season.
