Who is Halle Berry?

Halle Berry, born August 14, 1966 in Cleveland, Ohio, got her start in teen beauty pageants. She was Miss Ohio USA and went on to win the title of Miss Teen All-American. In Miss USA, Berry was a runner up in 1986 and took sixth place in Miss World that same year. She began to act in television shows, with Chicago Force and Living Dolls being her first jobs. During the shooting of Living Dolls, the young actress went into a diabetic coma, the first sign that she had the disease. However, it didn?t stop her from breaking into the film world with a part in Jungle Fever, a flick directed by Spike Lee. Next, she took on Strictly Business and then acted opposite Eddie Murphy in Boomerang in 1992. Halle also did a television version of Queen: The Story of an American Family in 1992, playing a biracial slave. After a fun role in Flintstones, she began to do more serious films, namely Losing Isaiah, Race the Sun and Why Do Fools Fall In Love. In 1999, Berry was in a movie called Presenting Dorothy Dandridge, about the first black woman to receive a nomination for an Academy Award in the Best Actress category. She won an Emmy and a Golden Globe among several other awards for the film, which she also produced. Then Berry turned to action, with the X-Men movies and Catwoman. She also starred in the horror film, Gothika.
