Eliza Dushku was born December 30, 1980 in Watertown, Massachusetts. She is an American actress who was raised a Mormon, but is currently not practicing the religion. Dushku first became known for her role as the recurring character Faith Lehane on the cult television hit Buffy the Vampire Slayer starring Sarah Michelle Gellar. Fictional character Faith and real life Dushku have a few interesting parallels. Faith was born in the same month and year, December 1980, only 16 days apart, in the city of Boston which is a few short miles from Dushku’s real home town of Watertown. Dushkus parents divorced when she was a baby, Faith was raised by a single mother (albeit also an alcoholic) whose absence caused her to gain the independence and strength she would need for her future as a vampire slayer. The character is considered to be the anti-hero, tough-but-sexy, leather clad bad girl opposite to Buffy who shows what the lead character would have been like had Buffy allowed her abilities as a vampire slayer to go in a darker direction. Dushku continues to work and it seems her tough and sexy image with the deep throaty voice to match follows her everywhere she goes. In a recent interview she’s attributed her toughness to being bullied during adolescence in middle school, and admitted growing up with three brothers might be a factor as well.
