Who is Anna Paquin?

Anna Paquin was born Anna Helene Paquin on the 24th of July, 1982, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. She was born to a Canadian father and a New Zealand mother. They moved to New Zealand when Anna was four years old. In 1991, Anna went to an open audition with her older sister for the role of Flora in The Piano. Out of 5000 children, Anna was selected for the role. Anna’s performance won her an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress, at just eleven years old. Anna continued to receive acting offers, but she refused them all, until 1996 when she appeared in Jane Eyre as a young Jane. She then also gained the lead role in Fly Away Home. Anna continued studying and acting, appearing in smaller films, although one rather memorable role in the 1998 film Hurlyburly with Sean Penn, Kevin Spacey, and Meg Ryan. Her big splash came when she landed the role of Rogue in X-Men in 2000. She also acted in the sequel, X2: X-Men United in 2003 and the third X-Men: The Last Stand in 2006. In July 2007, Anna received yet another award nomination, this time for an Emmy as Supporting Actress in a Miniseries or Movie, for her portrayal of Elain Goodale in Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee.
